Huawei launches Mate 40 Series with Kirin 9000 processor, powerful cameras, and EMUI 11









In an online event streamed live from YouTube, Huawei unveiled its new flagship Mate series smartphones for this year, which includes three new phones: Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, and Mate 40 Pro Plus, in addition to a new Porsche Design version of the Pro+ smartphone named Mate 40 RS.



 The Mate 40 Series is powered by EMUI 11 based on Android 10 that comes with a lot of new features such as Smart Multi Window, Dynamic Always On Display, MeeTime, Email Conversation mode, Eyes on Display, Multi-Screen Collaboration, AI Gesture Control...

Huawei Mate 40



The Huawei Mate 40 is powered by the new Kirin 9000E 5G chip with 5 nm manufacturing accuracy that includes a powerful octa-core processor clocked at up to 3.13 GHz (1 x Cortex-A77 at 3.13GHz + 3 x Cortex-A77 at 2.54GHz + 4 x Cortex-A55 at 2.05GHz) and a 22-core Mali G78 graphics processor, stereo speakers with 150% more powerful bass, and comes with a 6.5-inch curved OLED screen with a full HD plus resolution (2376 × 1080 Pixels), that has HDR10+ support, a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz. Huawei said that the refresh rate of 90 Hz is better than 120 Hz because it does not drain the battery much, and creates the best balance between the battery life and user experience.

 


The rear cameras in the Mate 40 series come with a new design in the shape of a circle called “Space Ring”, and the Mate 40 smartphone has three cameras embedded in that ring and consist of a 50 MP Ultra Vision wide-angle main camera with an aperture of f/1.9 that support the Omnidirectional PDAF and Laser autofocus (LAF), a 16 MP ultra-wide Cine Camera with an f/2.2 aperture, an 8 MP Telephoto Camera (up to 3x) (f/2.4 aperture) and support PDAF, OIS, and optical zoom (up to 5x) that they can record 4K videos at 30 fps and slow-motion videos in 1080p at 960fps. The selfie camera is a 13 MP Ultra Vision Selfie Camera with a Wide Angle and an f/2.4 aperture that can also record 4K videos at 30 fps and slow-motion videos in 1080p at 240 fps.



 The battery in Mate 40 is a 4200 mAh battery that supports HUAWEI SuperCharge at up to 40 W, and it has water resistance (IP63) and comes with WiFi 6, BlueTooth 5.2, NFC, InfraRed port, 5 mm jack port. It is available with 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB (UFS 3.1) internal storage, extensible via a nano SD card to up to 256 GB, in 5 colors: Mystic Silver, White, Black, Green, Yellow for a price of €899.


Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro+


The Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Pro Plus have a larger 6.76 flex OLED full HD+ display with a resolution of  2772 x 1344 Pixels, with the same features as the Mate 40 screen, and they are powered by the new Kirin 9000 5G chip with 5 nm manufacturing accuracy that includes the same octa-core processor clocked at up to 3.13 GHz as the Kirin 9000E, and the world first 28-core Mali G78 graphics processor.




The Pro model of the Huawei Mate 40 Series comes with a triple rear camera system that includes, in addition to the same 50-megapixel main camera found on the Mate 40, a 20 MP ultrawide Cine Camera (/1.8 aperture) and a 12 MP Periscope (5x) Camera with an aperture of f/3.4, and features AF, OIS, 10x hybrid zoom, 50x digital zoom, and 7x Optical Zoom, that they can record 4K videos, and support the ultra slow-motion video (720p at 3840 fps). The selfie camera is a dual 13 MP Ultra Vision camera (wide-angle, f/2.4 aperture) and a 3D deep camera that support 4K video recording and slow-motion video (1080p at 240fps).



The high-end Pro plus model has a more powerful camera system as it comes with a pentagonal rear camera system that consists of a 20 MP ultra-wide Cine Camera  (f/2.4 aperture), a 12 MP Telephoto Camera (f/2.4 aperture) that supports 3x Optical Zoom and OIS, an 8 MP SuperZoom Camera ( f/4.4 aperture, 10x Optical Zoom, and OIS support)and a 3D Depth Sensing Camera that supports autofocus, alongside with the same 50 MP main Ultra Vision Camera available on other previous models, that can also record 4K, and ultra slow-motion videos (720p at 3840 fps), and the same dual selfie camera as the Mate 40 Pro smartphone.



Both Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro Plus comes with a 4400 mAh battery that supports 66 W HUAWEI SuperCharge (fast charging, and 50 W Wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge (Wireless charging), and have Stereo speakers, IP68water resistance rating, WiFi 6, BlueTooth 5.2, NFC, InfraRed port. 

The Pro model is available with 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB (UFS 3.1) internal storage, extensible via a nano SD card to up to 256 GB, in 2 colors: Ceramic White and Ceramic Black for €1199, while the Pro+ model is available with 12 GB of RAM, and 256 GB (UFS 3.1) internal storage, extensible via a nano SD card to up to 256 GB, in the same 2 colors: Ceramic White and Ceramic Black for a price of €1399.


Huawei Mate 40 Pro RS



The Huawei Mate 40 Pro RS (Porsche Design) is a luxury smartphone with a premium design and quality. It is a special version of the Mate 40 Pro plus where the rear cameras are in an octagonal shape and include in addition to the five cameras present in the Pro+ model, a temperature-measurement sensor. It comes with 12GB of RAM, 512GB storage (UFS 3.1) in two colors options: Ceramic White, and Ceramic Black for a price of €2295.
