Microsoft announces Windows 10 22H2

Microsoft has announced the annual feature update for Windows 10, which is so-called the Windows 10 2022 update or Windows 10 22H2 version, and without surprises, this update does not bring anything new to Windows 10 users.  “Windows 10, version 22H2 is a scoped release focused on quality improvements to the overall Windows experience in existing feature areas such as quality, productivity, and security”, said Microsoft on the release info blog.

Windows 10 22H2 update is also known as build 19045 of the operating system, and it will be supported for two years, until October 8, 2024. This update is likely to be the penultimate major update for Windows 10 before it was retired on October 14, 2025.

The development of Windows 10 was already halted and completed last year when Microsoft announced Windows 11 as the successor to Windows 10, while the last development build that was released to insiders, was Windows 10 build 21390.2025 released on June 14, 2021.

After shifting the entire development team's efforts to the new operating system, Windows 11, Microsoft has pledged to provide security updates to Windows 10 users through 2025, to enable users who do not have Windows 11 compatible devices to stay safe online for a longer time.

Last but not least, although the Windows 10 22H2 update does not carry any new features, it is recommended to install it, as it increases another year of support for the system (the previous Windows 10 update 21H2 is still supported until Nov 16, 2021), as well as It only requires a few minutes to install it.

To install Windows 10 22H2 update, launch the settings app, go to update & security --> Windows Update, then click on the "Check for updates" button. You will see the new feature update available to install, just click on "Download and install" to begin the process.
