OnePlus 10 Pro launched in China

Finally, after months of waiting and a lot of rumors and leaks, OnePlus revealed its new flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G, but only in China for now.

OnePlus' delay in releasing this phone is apparently the result of the global shortage in the semiconductors, which cast a shadow on many smartphone manufacturers and forced them to delay its release in global markets for months, but what seems strange is that the company is now revealing a phone OnePlus 10 Pro in China only, with a promise that this phone will be launched in global markets later in 2022. OnePlus could have launched its product in all global markets at once, as international companies such as Samsung and Apple do, and not following the approach of some companies Chinese like Xiaomi, which operates on the principle of China first.

Anyway, in terms of design and specifications, the phone comes with the same design as most other flagship smartphones, with a screen with curved edges with a hole for the selfie camera in the upper middle, while the rear cameras come in a square shape. The square shape begins at the edges with the words "Hasselblad" on the side. In short, there are some changes in the external design compared to its predecessor OnePlus 9 Pro, but with almost the same design as other competing flagships with a change in the placement of the cameras and LED flash.

The OnePlus 10 Pro display is a Samsung 6.7-inch LTPO2 2K AMOLED display with a variable refresh rate of 120 Hz depending on the content displayed on the screen, a resolution of 3216 x 1440 pixels, a 525 pixels per inch density, that supports HDR10+ and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

OnePlus 10 Pro comes with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 octa-core processor with Adreno 730 graphics processor, 8 GB to 12 GB RAM of LPDDR5 type, and 128 GB to 256 GB internal storage of UFS 3.1 type. The phone runs on the ColorOS 12.1 interface based on Android 12 in China, and it will most likely be available with the Oxygen OS interface in global markets.

In terms of cameras, the OnePlus 10 Pro comes with a triple rear camera system, or what OnePlus so calls second-generation Hasselblad Camera for Mobile, that consists of a 48-megapixel primary camera (Sony IMX789 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, supports AutoFocus and Optical Image Stabilization), and a second 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera (Samsung S5KJN1SQ03 Sensor, f/2.2, 150 AF), 8 MP Telephoto Camera (Omni Vision OV08A19 Sensor, f/2.4, AF, OIS, and up to 3.3x optical zoom).

The rear camera system supports shooting clips with a resolution of up to 8K at 30fps.

As for the selfie, the phone comes with a 32-megapixel wide-angle front camera with a Sony IMX615 sensor and f/2.2 lens aperture, capable of shooting 1080p video at 30 frames per second.

The smartphone features a 5000mAh dual-cell battery that supports 80W SUPERVOOC fast wired charging (charges the battery from 1 to 100 percent in 32 minutes), 50W AIRVOOC fast wireless charging (charges the battery from 1 to 100 percent in 47 minutes), and reverse wireless charging.

OnePlus 10 Pro is equipped with dual stereo speakers, an under-display fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, USB Type-C 3.1 port for charging and data transfer. It will be available for purchase starting January 13, 2022 (tomorrow) in China in two colors: Volcanic Black and Emerald Forest, starting at:

  • 8 GB + 128 GB: CNY 4,699 (~$738).
  • 8 GB + 256 GB: CNY 4,999 (~$785).
  • 12 GB + 256 GB: CNY 5,299 (~$832).
