Microsoft ends support for Cortana on Android and iOS

Microsoft has officially announced the end of support for its personal assistant on Android and iOS devices, starting on March 31, 2021. This decision was not surprising, as the company announced in July 2020 that it would stop the Cortana application on mobile devices soon after it was removed The application from Google Play Store and App Store in 2019.

When launching it, the application displays a message at the top stating that the personal assistant will be discontinued on March 31, 2021, and the application becomes unable to carry out any request or command you request, and replies with a message stating that Cortana has been integrated into Microsoft 365 applications to make it as helpful as possible, and as part of this evolution, the personal assistant support on Android and iOS devices has been ended.

The message also notes that any content you created before - such as reminders and lists - will no longer function in the Cortana mobile app, but can still be accessed through Cortana on Windows 10. The personal assistant automatically syncs reminders, lists, and tasks with the Microsoft To-Do app as well, which you can still download to your Android or iOS device to access your data.

And Microsoft had launched Cortana on mobile devices in November 2018, but the application did not attract much interest, and it did not get enough users to remain in the competition, especially since Android smartphones come with Google Assistant pre-installed By default, iPhones and iPads also come with Siri, and many users prefer to stay with these default apps for their daily use rather than searching for alternative apps that do almost the same tasks.

It's a pity that another personal assistant app leaves the competition, but as long as the app is not used by many people, it will naturally be difficult for Microsoft to continue to maintain and support it on these platforms.
